Hello! I decided to take some time to play along with Tim’s Creative Chemistry 102 class. If you haven’t signed up, you still can! There are lots of incredible techniques and card examples. Not to mention hours of videos by Tim.
I picked three techniques from class and a new fabulous stamp set from Avery Elle and got inky! It is fun to show the many looks you can get from the one set.
Now, I am not going to go into details on how I created all these since that is part of the class content. 
But you are welcome to check out class anytime – it never goes away.
Alcohol Ink: Tinted Pearls
In class, Tim shows ways of changing the colors of embellishments and such with Alcohol Inks. I decided to do this on some plain pearls and give them a golden marble look. Really cool in real life…
I used the new Avery Elle Winter Wreath stamp set along with the bow from their Laurels set. So much you can do with that wreath!
Here is a closer look at those golden pearls. Just pounced some Butterscotch alcohol ink on them…
Distress Paint: Eroded Metallic
In the first day of class, Tim showed a technique he called “eroded metallic.” My first attempt didn’t turn out nearly as well as his, but I went with it anyway!
I first create a background by blending areas of Broken China, Salty Ocean, Weathered Wood and Bundled Sage Distress Paint on white cardstock. Once it dried (and is therefore permanent), I covered it with Brushed Silver Distress Paint and added splotches of water. After part of it dried, I dabbed off the still-wet paint with a paper towel, leaving the splotchy areas of silver. Love it. (In class, Tim shows how to do this with great ease – a must-see.)
I then white heat embossed the images on top and cut out the center to reveal the greeting. Wish you could see the shine of the background in the photo. (Oh – and I used water with Perfect Pearls in it for some added shine.)
Embossing Effects: Faux Chalkboard
Everyone is trying to achieve the perfect faux chalkboard look these days. And Tim nailed it with the technique her shared on the last day of class…
Black cardstock + Frosted Crystals Embossing Powder + chalk = perfection! Again, check out the class for how this is done. So easy.
That’s it! Three different techniques with three different looks with the same stamps. Boom.
